Set in a fading industrial town of Ontario, Canada in the 1990s, Brass follows 19-year-old Elsie, a sharp, restless waitress with big dreams and few real options. Stuck between a bitter, alcoholic mother and a brilliant younger sister poised to escape on a scholarship, Elsie longs for something— anything — that feels like freedom.

She finds it, or thinks she does, in Bashkim, a magnetic Albanian line cook at the local Greek diner. Older, married, and full of charm and ambition, Bashkim promises Elsie a life beyond the diner’s grease traps and small-town stagnation. As their relationship deepens, Elsie becomes pregnant and convinced that Bashkim’s dreams of business success and escape could also be hers. But the illusion soon crumbles. Bashkim’s “investments” are nothing but scams. His promises fade. And as Elsie tries to hold together her fantasy of love, independence, and family, she finds herself increasingly isolated.

In a world of failed factories, immigrant grit, and generational disappointment, Brass is a drama about the lies we’re sold, the ones we buy into, and the quiet power of choosing a different ending.
